Privacy & Scores
Daily Ranked Games
You can play Word Pileup without creating an account. The game uses a random browser cookie to identify guest players. A hashed version of this identifier, your nickname, and your ranked attempts are saved in a shared database.
If you're already signed in through the hosting platform, your existing account profile is used instead.
Each ranked attempt saves the date, game mode, accepted answers, server timestamps, status, and score. This allows the game to restore unfinished attempts, limit players to one ranked attempt per mode each day, and keep leaderboard scores accurate.
Guest progress is tied to your browser cookie. Signed-in progress is tied to your platform account.
The public leaderboard only shows nicknames, completed steps, remaining time, and ranks. Your answers, email, account name, and account identifiers are not shown.
You can change your nickname in the trophy panel. Avoid using personal information in your nickname if you don't want it to be public.
Local Storage and Practice
Your browser saves your game progress and statistics locally. Clearing local storage removes this local history.
Clearing the game's cookie or switching browsers creates a new guest profile. You won't be able to access your previous guest progress through the new profile, but earlier leaderboard scores will remain.
Practice games are unranked, and their scores aren't published. Ranked answers are checked on the server, while practice answers are checked in your browser.
Sharing
You can share your results using your device's share menu or by copying a scorecard.
Shared scorecards include the game mode, daily challenge number, completed steps, remaining time, and a link to the game. They don't include your answers.
Nothing is shared automatically.
Advertising and Hosting
Word Pileup uses Google AdSense to verify site ownership and prepare for advertising.
When the AdSense script loads, Google may receive information such as your IP address, browser, and device details.
If ads are displayed, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to display, personalize, and measure ads. This depends on your location, consent, and settings.
You can read more about how Google uses information from partner sites or manage ad personalization through Google My Ad Center.
The hosting platform also processes standard website access and request information. Access to the game is controlled separately from the public leaderboard.
For questions about your saved data during testing, contact the person who shared the game with you.
